Description

This tour covers the main highlights of the east half to São Miguel island, including Furnas, Vila Franca do Campo, Nordeste, Tea Factory and a lot more. Combine it with our West Tour, to see the whole island in only 2 days!

Departing from Ponta Delgada, road trip along the pleasant south coast of the island until Senhora da Paz, a beautiful chapel on the mountains with a splendid view over the entire town of Vila Franca do Campo and its majestic islet. Stop in town to taste the local "queijadas", the most famous pastries of the Azores.

Continue to Furnas, a town built inside a volcano that provides many delights to the local inhabitants, which you'll also have the chance to enjoy in this tour! From bathing in the thermal springs (optional, not included), to observing the steamy fumaroles or watching your lunch (the famous "cozido") being pulled from the warm volcanic soil, experiencing Furnas is something you'll never forget!

In the afternoon, enjoy spectacular scenic views over Furnas lake and town, before continuing east to Nordeste. Here, see the highest cliffs of the island and the beautiful waterfall of Ribeira dos Caldeirões, another mandatory stop of São Miguel island.

Finish the day with a comforting cup of tea (complementary) after learning how tea is made in the traditional Azorean way.
